Saint Michael's Brimham Rocks Abseil – Terms and Conditions
(Effective as of 1 May 2025)

Definitions:
• Event: Saint Michael's Abseil at Brimham Rocks, a charity fundraising event organised by North Yorkshire Hospice Care in partnership with Live for Today.
• Participant: An individual registered to take part in the abseil event.
• Registration Fee: A non-refundable fee paid upon registering for the event.
• Charity: North Yorkshire Hospice Care, registered charity no. 518905.
• Activity Provider: Live for Today, the third-party company delivering the abseiling experience.

1. Registration Policy
1.1. By registering, Participants agree to these Terms and Conditions.
1.2. The Registration Fee is non-refundable under all circumstances, including cancellation or rescheduling due to adverse weather or other force majeure events.
1.3. Participant transfers are permitted up to two weeks before the event. Transfer requests must be made in writing to supportercare@saintmichaelshospice.org.
1.4. Registration is subject to availability and must be completed in advance; on-the-day registration cannot be guaranteed.
1.5. Participants under 18 must be aged 12 or over and accompanied by a registered parent or legal guardian.
1.6. By registering, Participants confirm that the information they provide is accurate and that they meet the age and health requirements for the event.
1.7. Participants aged 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also registered for the event. The accompanying adult’s full contact details must be provided in the ‘Next of Kin’ section during registration.

2. Sponsorship and Fundraising
2.1. Sponsorship forms and fundraising guidance will be provided upon registration.
2.2. All sponsorship funds are due by 30 September 2025 and must be paid directly to Saint Michael’s Hospice
2.3. All funds raised will support the work of North Yorkshire Hospice Care, including its specialist care and support services.

3. Health, Safety, and Medical Conditions
3.1. Participants undertake the activity at their own risk. Those with medical concerns are strongly advised to consult their GP before participating.
3.2. Any relevant medical conditions must be disclosed to the event organisers at the time of registration.
3.3. Participants must meet the health and safety criteria set by Live for Today, including any height, weight, physical mobility requirements and age.
3.4. Participants consent to receive emergency medical treatment if necessary during the event.
3.5. Pregnant individuals are not permitted to participate for safety reasons.
3.6. Individuals with accessibility needs should contact the organisers in advance to discuss reasonable adjustments.

4. Equipment and Participation Requirements
4.1. All safety equipment will be provided by Live for Today and must be worn correctly.
4.2. Participants must wear suitable outdoor clothing and closed-toe footwear.
4.3. Instructions from Live for Today staff and event organisers must be followed at all times. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the event.
4.4. Participants must arrive at their scheduled time. Late arrivals may not be accommodated and will forfeit their place without refund.

5. Conduct During the Event
5.1. Participants must treat staff, volunteers, and fellow participants with respect and follow all safety instructions.
5.2. Smoking, alcohol, or drug use is not permitted. Any participant believed to be under the influence will be excluded from the activity.
5.3. Dogs are not allowed in the abseiling area.

6. Event Cancellation or Rescheduling
6.1. The Charity and Live for Today reserve the right to amend the event format, location, or timing due to weather, health concerns, or unforeseen circumstances.
6.2. In the case of event cancellation due to force majeure (including severe weather), the Registration Fee remains non-refundable.
6.3. If the event is rescheduled, existing registrations may be transferred to the new date where feasible.

7. Liability and Insurance
7.1. Participation is at the individual’s own risk. North Yorkshire Hospice Care accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage except where caused by its negligence.
7.2. Live for Today, as the Activity Provider, carries appropriate insurance and is responsible for the delivery of the abseil experience.
7.3. Participants are responsible for arranging their own insurance to cover risks associated with outdoor or adventure activities.
7.4. The Charity is not responsible for actions taken by spectators or other third parties during the event.

8. Use of Personal Data and Image Rights
8.1. Personal information will be handled in accordance with GDPR and used solely for the purpose of event administration. The full privacy policy is available at: www.saintmichaelshospice.org.
8.2. By taking part, Participants consent to being photographed or filmed during the event. These materials may be used for future promotional purposes. Participants who do not wish to appear must notify the organisers in advance.

9. Governing Law
9.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law, and any disputes will be handled under the jurisdiction of the English courts.
