Health Professionals

Many professionals and organisations come into contact with bereaved children, young people and adults. Just ‘B’ has a team who may be able to help you to support these individuals.

The services we offer professionals working with people who are bereaved include:

  • Opportunity to refer directly to the Just ‘B’ service
  • Bespoke bereavement training for their organisations
  • Opportunity to be part of the Harrogate District Bereavement Consortium, a group hosted and facilitated by Just ‘B’, that offers professionals a place to network, share good practice and support each other

How do I refer a patient or client to Just ‘B’?

Just ‘B’ offers planned bereavement support to children, young people and adults living in the Harrogate District. The service is suitable for people experiencing any type of bereavement, including suicide, RTA or terminal illness. We offer assistance before, during and after death for children and young people and bereavement support following a death for adults.

It is important to note that Just ‘B’ is not a crisis service. This means we treat all referrals equally. It is therefore particularly important that professionals have the express permission of the adult they are working with before taking any steps to refer them to our service. In the case of children, the parents or carers and the young person themselves must give permission for the professional working with them to refer them to Just ‘B’. Your client can also self refer.

A step by step guide to refer

My team of reception volunteers found Just ‘B’s bereavement training immensely valuable. It was very practical and we found we could use what we had learnt immediately in our role.

Training and Information

Just ‘B’ has a highly skilled team who are pleased to share their knowledge and expertise with others whose work brings them into contact with bereaved people. Our training is designed to meet your organisation’s particular needs and we would work closely with you to make sure it meets your aims.

We also offer additional support for professionals who may not be looking for formal training. We host and facilitate Harrogate District Bereavement Consortium. The aim of this group is to offer a forum for professionals who come into contact with children, young people and adults who are bereaved to network, learn and support each other. This is currently held three times each year at Saint Michael’s Hospice, in Harrogate.

On top of these two opportunities, although we do not run a formalised advice service, our team is happy to offer some telephone advice and information to professionals where possible.

If you would like any information about any of these opportunities, please telephone Just ‘B’ on 01423 856 790.
